Company History →

Asian Logger

From humble beginnings to a fleet that service all regions of the Philippines, Asian Shipping Corporation has grown into a trusted name in the maritime industry—driven by dedication, innovation, and a passion for progress.

  1. Establishment

Asian Shipping Corporation (ASC) was founded in July 1965 in Manila, Philippines. The company began with two Log Carriers and a Landing Craft Medium (LCM) to transport logs across Asia.
  2. Domestic Tramping Begins

ASC focused on the domestic tramping business and acquired 250DWT ex-US Navy LCTs, followed by several other vessels.
  3. New Builds

The towing and barging business began with single-screw tugs and 600DWT deck barges. In response to increasing cargo capacity requirements, ASC acquired larger versions of the LCTs. In 1982, the company built its first 2,000DWT LCT.
  4. Major Addition

ASC reached a milestone with the purchase of an 8,000DWT barge, the largest of its kind registered in the Philippines. During this decade, ASC expanded its fleet with 15 new vessels, including 5,000DWT barges from a local shipyard and multiple 1,000HP twin-screw tugs built by its sister company.
  5. Scaling up

5,000 DWT and 8,000 DWT barges were continually added to the fleet. In 2009, the company saw an increase in barge capacity with the arrival of the first 12,000 DWT barge in the Philippines.
  6. Moving Forward

ASC expanded its fleet with a 15,000 DWT barge, the largest in the Philippines at the time, along with its first 4,000 HP twin-screw tugs and several 4,000 DWT LCTs. By 2014, MARINA ranked ASC as the largest domestic shipping company in the Philippines by gross tonnage.
  7. Industry Leader

Marking six decades of excellence, ASC operates nearly 200 vessels of various types. It boasts the largest combined fleet of LCTs, tugs, and barges, providing reliable shipping services across the Philippines.
